What are the advantages to being a C.O.P.S. Neighborhood?

 - Learn how to keep you, your family, and your home safe.

 - Increased patrols of the neighborhood by police officers.

 - Updates at the meetings on crime statistics for the county and nearby area, including any incidents in the neighborhood.

 - Opportunities to discuss concerns and ask questions directly to the COPS officer at the meetings.

 

What is a C.O.P.S. Program?

    This program is offered by the Gwinnett County Police Dept.  The program requires participation in 5 meetings per year.  
    The introductory meeting requires 75% of the neighborhood to attend.  The remaining meetings can cover topics listed below.
    Each neighborhood has a C.O.P.S Liaison which is a resident in the neighborhood who communicates between neighbors and the C.O.P.S. officer.

-Child Safety for Parents
-Gang Awareness for Teens & Parents

-Domestic Abuse / Family Violence
-Consumer Fraud & Scams
-Safe Driving in Gwinnett
-Firearm Safety for Adults
-Robbery / Shoplifting Prevention
-Teen Safe Driving
-Bicycle Safety

 

Property maintenance ordinances establish basic requirements for all premises in Gwinnett County to promote and protect the health, safety, and welfare of all residents. These ordinances and laws have been in place for several years. Two common violations of this ordinance are:
#1. Premises and exterior property shall be maintained free of grass, weeds, and uncultivated vegetation in excess of 12 inches in height.
#2. The open or outdoor storage of appliances, building materials or rubbish, equipment, garbage, goods, glass, materials, merchandise, trash, or similar items shall not be permitted, maintained, or stored on any premises for more than 24 hours.
