Waste Pro of Georgia will be our new solid waste provider effective January 2.

Unincorporated Gwinnett County has been divided into new service areas to provide more efficient and cost effective services. Advanced Disposal Services Atlanta, LLC and Waste Pro of Georgia, Inc. were awarded contracts on November 7, 2008 following a comprehensive competitive process. During the six-month phase-in period (Jan. 1 – June 30), residents will pay a monthly service fee of $20.45 directly to their assigned waste hauler. Effective July 1, 2009, residents will pay a monthly service fee of $17.86 through their annual property tax bills. This price will remain fixed until December 31, 2010. Service fees will be billed annually on your property tax bill for subsequent years. During the six-month phase-in period, waste haulers will be required to provide residents with two 95-gallon wheeled carts, one for waste and one for recycling. All carts must be in place and fully operational by July 1, 2009. Residents will have weekly same-day pickup of waste, recyclables and larger items like appliances and old furniture. The number of recyclable items will increase from the present seven-item limit to up to 35 items by July 1, 2009. Yard waste pickup will continue to be an elective service and offered at an additional rate of $10 per month.
